Autonomous Maritime Solutions joins Ocean Autonomy Cluster

Ocean Autonomy Cluster welcomes Autonomous Maritime Solutions as a new member, further strengthening the cluster’s competence within autonomous maritime operations and the port and harbour sector.

Autonomous Maritime Solutions is a consultancy specialising in supporting ports, harbour authorities and marinas in establishing unmanned surface vehicle (USV) capabilities. The company offers comprehensive advisory services, ranging from vessel research and bespoke vessel identification to continuous updates and guidance on maritime regulations for autonomous vessels.

“Ports and harbour authorities are increasingly exploring autonomous solutions, but many are unsure where to start,” says  Finley Jones, Marketing and Engagement Manager  of Autonomous Maritime Solutions. “Our role is to help them navigate both the technological and regulatory landscape and build practical, future-ready USV operations.”

The company is also the UK and European representative for Open Ocean Robotics, a Canadian manufacturer of autonomous USVs. Through this partnership, Autonomous Maritime Solutions is working to introduce Open Ocean Robotics’ solar-powered USVs to the European market.

“These platforms offer long-endurance, low-emission capabilities that are highly relevant for European ports and coastal authorities,” Jones says. “Being part of Ocean Autonomy Cluster gives us a strong network to engage with as we bring this technology to Europe.”

Through its membership, Autonomous Maritime Solutions aims to take an active role in cluster events and collaborate with other members on projects across the autonomous maritime ecosystem.

Ocean Autonomy Cluster gains a member with a unique transatlantic perspective, combining representation of a North American USV manufacturer with more than 30 years of experience from the port and harbour sector.

“We see the cluster as an important arena for collaboration and knowledge sharing,” Jones adds. “By working closely with other members, we believe we can contribute valuable operational insight while also learning from some of the most advanced autonomy environments in Europe.”
