Kace

Having already contributed to one of Norway's newest autonomous maritime platforms, Kace AS has joined Ocean Autonomy Cluster to strengthen collaboration around maritime innovation, industrialization, and next-generation autonomous systems. Based in Fosnavåg, Kace AS sees significant opportunities at the intersection of maritime technology, autonomous systems, and practical industrialization. The company joins the cluster with extensive experience in composite manufacturing, specialized maritime structures, vessel development, and technical innovation projects. We see significant potential in the intersection between maritime technology, autonomous systems, and the practical industrialization of new solutions, says Øyvind Sætre of Kace AS. Ocean Autonomy Cluster's focus on collaboration, innovation, and the development of autonomous maritime systems aligns well with our ambition to be a flexible and competent development and manufacturing partner for the maritime industries of the future. Øyvind Sætre, COO Kace Behind the hull of Eelume WP960 Kace has already established a foothold in the maritime autonomy ecosystem through its involvement in the recently launched Eelume WP960, an unmanned surface vessel developed for mine countermeasures and underwater operations. The vessel is based on the WP960WB hull, developed by Westplast in collaboration with KACE AS and produced at Kace's shipyard in Fosnavåg. The platform combines a proven Norwegian hull design with advanced autonomy and underwater technologies from companies including Eelume and Maritime Robotics. At the launch of the vessel, Kace CEO Geir-Arne Bøe highlighted the importance of combining industrial know-how with emerging autonomous technologies. The collaboration between KACE and Eelume marks the start of an exciting new segment. Combining KACE's long experience with robust WP vessels and Eelume's advanced autonomous systems provides a solid foundation for the solutions of the future. The project demonstrates how established maritime manufacturers can play a key role in bringing new autonomous capabilities from concept to operation. Eelume WP960 from Kace. The company hopes its Ocean Autonomy Cluster membership will create opportunities to participate in pilot projects, demonstration activities, and collaborative innovation initiatives while strengthening relationships with technology companies, research institutions, and industrial partners. For Kace, membership is not about becoming an autonomy company ourselves, says Sætre. It is about being an attractive partner for companies developing the next generation of maritime technology. We want to help ensure that innovative solutions can be designed, engineered, manufactured, and brought into operation. Strengthening the maritime innovation ecosystem Ocean Autonomy Cluster brings together companies, research organizations, public sector stakeholders, and technology developers working to accelerate innovation and value creation within autonomous maritime operations. For Kace, membership provides access to knowledge-sharing arenas, project development opportunities, and international networks, while allowing the company to contribute practical expertise in engineering, prototyping, manufacturing, and industrialization. The company believes closer collaboration between technology developers and industrial partners will be essential as autonomous maritime solutions move from testing and demonstration into large-scale deployment. By joining the cluster, Kace aims to contribute to the development and commercialization of future maritime technologies while helping strengthen Norway's position as a leading maritime innovation nation.
