From subsea and offshore to maritime simulation and advanced product development, Knightec brings broad engineering expertise to Trondheim’s ocean technology ecosystem, and is now joining Ocean Autonomy Cluster. Knightec Group is an international engineering and technology consultancy working with product development, engineering, simulation, software and production. The company operates across several industries, including maritime, subsea, energy, defence and technology. In Trondheim, Knightec Group works with areas such as maritime and crane simulation, combining mechanical engineering, cybernetics and software expertise. The company also draws on extensive experience from subsea, offshore and maritime projects. “We have a lot of experience from subsea, offshore and maritime projects. We have highly skilled engineers who understand the challenges and know how to develop robust designs,” says Rune Kvernland, Area Manager, Knightec Group Norway. The company can support customers from early concepts through prototyping and into production. Knightec has its own prototype and small-series production capabilities in Kongsberg, enabling it to develop and assemble products before they move into larger-scale manufacturing. “I want us to work more with what is out in the ocean, maritime, aquaculture and subsea. There are many interesting engineering challenges where we can contribute,” says Kvernland. Joining Ocean Autonomy Cluster Knightec is joining Ocean Autonomy Cluster to strengthen its connections with companies and technology environments in the region. “We see a need to strengthen our service offering, and we depend on companies that can provide the expertise and services our members need,” says Frode Halvorsen, Manager of Ocean Autonomy Cluster. For Knightec, this creates a natural link between its engineering and prototyping capabilities and real-world testing. “Our customers need to develop products, services and prototypes for testing and improvement. That can eventually create a need to scale up production and services,” says Vegard Saur, Head of Testination.
