Anschütz is taking a major step into autonomous maritime operations. The company has launched its new product line, Anschütz Autonomics, offering autonomous navigation and mission automation solutions for commercial, defence, and maritime security applications. Anschütz has recently joined Ocean Autonomy Cluster, bringing decades of experience in integrated navigation systems and a new focus on autonomous capabilities. Expanding capabilities with autonomous solutions The new product line includes the SYNAPSIS Autonomics Navigation Suite, which enhances traditional navigation systems with optical target tracking, COLREG-compliant collision avoidance, and advanced motion control for precise manoeuvring and station keeping. SYNTACS Autonomics automates mission execution, including threat and doctrine management, tactical behaviours, and payload integration. “Anschütz Autonomics represents a true innovation for unmanned operations in maritime security, defence, and commercial applications,” said Andreas Weidner, Managing Director at Anschütz GmbH. “Scalable from assistance systems to highly automated solutions – and from monitoring and controlling unmanned surface vessels to automating large, manned ships, it delivers new value across a wide range of use cases.” Vessel in Escort mode Photo: Anschütz Autonomics Key functionalities and applications The system enables safe and precise autonomous navigation, automated tactical operations, and full remote control from shore-based command centres. Proven functionalities include high-speed track and speed control, dynamic collision avoidance, targeted interception and reconnaissance, automated shadowing and escorting of high-value or suspicious targets, and integration of data into a common operational picture. Beyond commercial operations, Anschütz Autonomics provides software-defined defence capabilities for a wide range of naval missions, including ISR operations and underwater tasks such as mine detection. Successful demonstrations and operational experience Recent demonstrations with German Naval Yards, CMN in France, and the German Navy have shown unmanned surface vessels executing high-speed manoeuvres, avoiding obstacles, and intercepting targets, all under remote control. Since joining the CAPTN initiative in 2023, Anschütz technology has also completed over 250 autonomous collision-avoidance manoeuvres on the Kiel Fjord under real operational conditions.
