Eelume is strengthening its collaboration with PETRONAS Research Sdn. Bhd. (PRSB), the research arm of Malaysian energy company PETRONAS.
The partnership aims to drive forward new autonomous underwater technologies that support more sustainable and cost-efficient offshore energy operations.
“At the core of the collaboration is the Eelume S an all-terrain autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed to support inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) of critical subsea infrastructure,” says Thomas Nygaard, CEO of Eelume. “With its modular design, extended endurance, and high-precision data acquisition capabilities, Eelume S offers a smart, safe, and sustainable solution for increasingly complex underwater environments.”
“Eelume S is designed to operate smarter, safer, and cleaner. This is technology that can make a real difference in the way we approach subsea operations in the future,” Nygaard adds.
The goal of the partnership is to reduce both operational costs and the environmental footprint of offshore energy production – key priorities in the global transition towards more sustainable energy systems. Both Eelume and PRSB look forward to delivering concrete outcomes as they embark on this new chapter in subsea innovation.
