OceanTech develops technology for use in the "splash zone" on maritime vessels and offshore installations. The splash zone offshore is one of the most demanding, challenging, and dangerous environments to perform work and operations in. Safe and secure access is one of the major challenges in the splash zone. Oceantech has now demonstrated its new autonomous inspection robot.

OceanTech's ANDWIS probe enhances crack detection and crack measurement during the inspection of weld seams. The method, which uses electricity and magnetism, is called eddy current NDT. The control of the probe is autonomous using a robot and 3D camera.

The technology contributes to both reduced testing time, improved health, safety, and environment (HSE), and automated robot movements. The probe is highly accurate with several enhancements. The method also contributes to the extension of the lifespan of the installations being inspected.

OceanTech has its headquarters with facilities for development, testing, and production at its Subsea Test Center in Nyhavna, Trondheim.
