The Trondheim-based company received a total of NOK 1.4 million for its technology designed to make maritime navigation more resilient to GPS jamming and spoofing.** Norse Navigation develops navigation systems for vessels designed to maintain reliable positioning when satellite navigation signals are disrupted or manipulated. The technology addresses a growing challenge for maritime operations, including autonomous and remotely operated vessels. “This is incredibly exciting. The awards give us a lot of energy and even more momentum for our plans. Perhaps the best part is the opportunity we have had to showcase what we are doing,” says Henrik Foss, founder and CEO of Norse Navigation. Photo: Nicholas Lund/Videomakeriet AS ## Preparing for production Norse Navigation is now working towards type approval and building a new 150-square-metre production facility in Trondheim. “We are currently in the middle of a major certification process, while at the same time building a new production facility so that we can build up our inventory. But we will also take some time to celebrate. So the prize money will go towards both champagne and the new inventory,” Foss says. The jury highlighted the company’s maritime expertise, execution capabilities and international potential. “With a large international market, a clear need for safer satellite navigation and ambitions to build a broader product portfolio, Norse Navigation has significant potential to develop new, export-oriented technology industry from Central Norway,” said Vegard Helland, chair of the jury and Executive Vice President for Corporate Banking at SpareBank 1 SMN. A total of 75 companies applied for Fremtidens Verdiskaper 2026. The Trondheim-based company received a total of NOK 1.4 million for its technology designed to make maritime navigation more resilient to GPS jamming and spoofing. Norse Navigation develops navigation systems for vessels designed to maintain reliable positioning when satellite navigation signals are disrupted or manipulated. The technology addresses a growing challenge for maritime operations, including autonomous and remotely operated vessels. “This is incredibly exciting. The awards give us a lot of energy and even more momentum for our plans. Perhaps the best part is the opportunity we have had to showcase what we are doing,” says Henrik Foss, founder and CEO of Norse Navigation. Established in Trondheim in November 2025, the company has in less than a year moved from an idea to a production-ready design, developed three product variants and carried out extensive technical testing. But we will also take some time to celebrate. So the prize money will go towards both champagne and the new inventory,” Foss says. The jury highlighted the company’s maritime expertise, execution capabilities and international potential. “With a large international market, a clear need for safer satellite navigation and ambitions to build a broader product portfolio, Norse Navigation has significant potential to develop new, export-oriented technology industry from Central Norway,” said Vegard Helland, chair of the jury and Executive Vice President for Corporate Banking at SpareBank 1 SMN.
