Fugro, the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, has joined the Ocean Autonomy Cluster to strengthen collaboration in autonomous maritime technology.
With a strong global presence and expertise in site characterization, asset integrity, and uncrewed and remote technologies, Fugro brings extensive knowledge and cutting-edge solutions to the cluster’s innovation ecosystem.
“Joining the Ocean Autonomy Cluster is a natural step for Fugro as we continue to push the boundaries of maritime autonomy and remote operations,” says Jan Arvid Ingulfsen, Strategy & Commercial Manager at Fugro Blue Robotics.
“We look forward to collaborating with industry leaders, research institutions, and technology developers to accelerate advancements in uncrewed systems and autonomous solutions for a sustainable and secure ocean economy”, Ingulfsen says.
Fugro’s scope of work spans critical underwater infrastructure, maritime security, seabed mapping, and navigation safety. The company provides essential data fusion, monitoring, and inspection services using advanced uncrewed surface vessels (USV), remotely operated vehicles (ROV), remote operating centres (ROC), and airborne lidar systems. These capabilities align with the Ocean Autonomy Cluster’s mission to promote the development and deployment of autonomous ocean technologies.
By joining the cluster, Fugro aims to contribute its expertise in Geo-data acquisition and analysis to support safer, more efficient, and more sustainable maritime operations. “Collaboration is key to innovation,” adds Ingulfsen. “Together with the Ocean Autonomy Cluster, we can explore new opportunities, develop groundbreaking solutions, and enhance the role of autonomy in the maritime industry.”
"It is absolutely fantastic to have Fugro join as a member of OAC. First and foremost, Fugro is a major and important user of the technology represented by the cluster. Moreover, their membership confirms both the significance and the market potential of this technology," says Frode Halvorsen, Cluster Manager at Ocean Autonomy Cluster.
