"articleBody" : "Clean Sea Solutions is a Norwegian startup that develops stationary and autonomous solutions to clean up rivers, river mouths, canals, marinas, harbors, and other (urban) waterfront areas to prevent and reduce the inflow of plastic waste into the oceans. The idea started out from the following problem description: UN has described marine pollution as the fastest growing environmental problem in the world. Estimated between 4,8 and 12,7 million tons of plastic waste currently enters the ocean every year, the equivalent of a truckload every minute throughout the year. When the plastic waste reaches the seas, up to 94 percent (WWF, 2018) will sink to the seabed and over a longer period of time break down to micro-plastic particles. It is therefore essential to take measures to prevent the inflow of plastic waste before it reaches the open oceans. Based on this issue, CSS are developing innovative solutions to reduce and prevent the inflow of marine plastic waste into the oceans. They have so far developed the following two devices: 1. The Clean Sea Aqua Drone is an all-electric, autonomous floating waste-collecting aqua-drone, using a combination of computer vision and remote sensing – i.e. ultra-sound and/or LIDAR with appropriate filtering and prioritization for avoiding obstacles and waterborne vehicles. The Aqua Drone has onboard waste storage. Upon finishing the mission, the Aqua Drone returns to its docking location and safely self-dock for emptying the trash bin and recharge. The first pilot of the Clean Sea Aqua Drone is scheduled to be launched in the Port of Oslo / Oslo City during 2Q of 2021. Further development and testing will take place throughout 2020 and 2021. 2. Clean Sea Flexi Pod; A flexible and attractive modular floating docks with built-in autonomous waste collectors and internal collection pools. It can be combined with existing floating devices or operated independently. Trash flows from around the pod into internal collection pools with waterfalls created by electric pumps emptying the pools for water. We will start prototype testing in June-July 2020, and the product is estimated to be ready for the market from the second half of 2020. We look forward to see what Clean Sea Solutions can accomplish, and are happy to welcome them to the cluster.",

"articleBody" : "Scout Drone Inspection is a spin-out of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and has high competence within cybernetics, software systems and robotics. Scout Drones Inspection’s vision is to develop a complete digital process for inspection of tanks and indoor industrial assets using drones that can navigate safely in confined spaces without the use of GPD. Every day, thousands of industrial assets are inspected manually. To demonstrate, a tank in an oil refinery must be regularly inspected for cracks and corrosion. Similar, ship’s storage and ballast tanks must be inspected at least every five years due to requirements from the International Maritime Organization- IMO. The inspections are traditionally done by using scaffolding or climbing teams which is both costly, time consuming and expose the inspectors to health and safety risk (e.g. risk of falling, toxic gases, radiation or extreme temperatures). Due to these challenges Scout Drone Inspection has developed a drone that is especially suitable for navigating in confined spaces, in addition to avoiding the risk associated with human inspectors. The drone uses a 3D laser scanner that map out the surroundings in real time and at the same time locates the drone without using GPS. The goal is to make the inspections more efficient and safer for surveyors, and deliver the same quality while minimizing operational downtime for the customers. We welcome Scout Drones to the cluster, and look forward to working together!",

"articleBody" : "Njord Robotics develops autonomous underwater cleaning drones for land-based fish farming. In land-based farming, fish tanks must be cleaned regularly. Today, tanks are cleaned manually by facility personnel in between production cycles (i.e., batches of fish). This is not only a time-consuming, hazardous, and labor-intensive process—it also results in operational downtime and production delay. The cleaning drone developed by Njord Robotics is therefore designed to clean the tanks continuously and proactively during production, while there is fish in the tanks. It is designed to keep bacteria, biofouling, and sludge at bay at all times. Njord Robotics envision a future where there is no need for manual cleaning – a future where tanks never get dirty, and where fish is cultivated in a clean and biologically safe environment. Henning (CTO), Marcus (CTO) and Vidar (CEO) Njord Robotics was founded by three students from NTNU, who all has an engineering degree from different fields: cybernetics and robotics, marine technology, industrial economics, and entrepreneurship. The startup has its origin in NTNU School of Entrepreneurship, and the team consists of Henning (CTO), Marcus (CTO) and Vidar (CEO). The whole idea started because Vidar has practical experience from the fish farming industry and has cleaned a lot of fish tanks himself. – The idea popped into our minds when we first saw autonomous net cleaning drones for sea-based net pens (those nets in the fjords that most people associate with fish farming); we thought: “Hey—somebody should do this for tanks on land, too!”, says the boys to 6am. We welcome Njord Robotics as a new member!",

En fullstendig oversikt over alle skisser finnes her.

"articleBody" : "Developing parts of Nyhavna for the future growth in ocean technology will strengthen Trondheim’s cutting-edge autonomy environment, commercialize technologies and build a stronger foundation for innovation and entrepreneurship. Renowned institutions such as NTNU AMOS and SINTEF, and companies such as Maritime Robotics and Eelume, are based in Trondheim. The city is a global hub for research and development of maritime autonomous technology. Illustration Eelume This op-ed is written by Frode Halvorsen, Cluster Manager of the Ocean Autonomy Cluster and Senior Advisor at FI, published in the Norwegian newspapers Nidaros June 08. 2020 and Shifter.no June 09. 2020. Potensialet for denne industrien vokser nærmest eksponentielt.

"articleBody" : "One small ROV, developed by cluster member Blueye Robotics, is saving Equinor millions of NOK in inspection costs on the semi-submersible platform “Kristin”. The seawater intake on the platform’s fire pumps must be inspected three to four times per year. Previously, the inspections were carried out by renting offshore vessels with large ROVs and specialists, with daily rates of about 250 000 NOK per day. – Equinor saves one million NOK each time we don’t have to rent a large offshore vessel to do these inspections, says Platform Manager Narve Aske to the Norwegian newspaper Adresseavisen. About a year ago, Equinor bought Blueye Robotics’ Pioneer drone for under 100 000 NOK to do the same job. The drone is operated from the platform deck, unhindered by strong winds and waves. – They have used the drone many times for inspection, and demonstrated how simple it is to use, says Marketing Director Interim & Software Developer at Blueye Robotics Andreas Viggen, to the Norwegian magazine Teknisk Ukeblad. The Pioneer can dive to 150 meters depth and is operated through a wire, which also transmits HD images and video. In this case, the seawater intakes are 21 meters below the surface and the drone is operated from a smartphone or tablet. Earlier this year, Blueye Robotics launched the Blueye Pro, an upgraded version targeted at all professionals with a need for a flexible and easy to use tool to perform their inspections, without being dependent on divers or ROV pilots. Blueye Robotics was founded in 2015 based on an idea from Erik Dyrkoren, who was working on the concept at MARINTEK and NTNU AMOS. Today the company has over 20 employees from all over the world with expertise in software, robotics, mechanical- and industrial design, underwater technology, graphic design and business development.",
