Frostabåten AS ble etablert i 2022 med mål om å utvikle en moderne hurtigbåtforbindelse mellom Frosta og Trondheim. Selskapet planlegger å teste en banebrytende båt av typen Candela P-12, som har plass til 30 passasjerer. Denne båten benytter en innovativ teknologi som løfter båten over vannflaten ved hastigheter over 7–8 knop, noe som reduserer drivstofforbruket og miljøpåvirkningen betydelig.

Prosjektet har som mål å tilby en effektiv og miljøvennlig pendlerrute som styrker forbindelsen mellom regionene. Selskapet er registrert med adresse i Vikaleirvegen 14, Frosta. Frostabåten representerer et spennende steg mot bærekraftig og moderne sjøfart.
